Employee Wellness Program

D&E recognizes that a wellness program is an effective long-term strategy in building and achieving a high quality of life for our employees.

Employees are encouraged to get engaged in Lifestyle Returns (through Highmark Blue Shield), a five-step wellness program that requires participants to take a pledge, complete a confidential health risk assessment, get an annual physical and appropriate health screenings based on age and gender, and participate in education and interactive opportunities about health, nutrition, and fitness. One way that D&E assists employees in the above wellness management is by giving employees who schedule an annual physical that day off with pay.

The Wellness Committee is a group of employees throughout our various locations who are dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles for all employees. This is accomplished by several initiatives such as Wellness Wednesday e-mails with healthy tips and various initiatives such as smoking cessation programs, educational sessions on nutrition, etc.
