When you receive a call, wait until your telephone completes its first ringing signal.
Notes:
- If "Out of Area," "O," or a similar message appears on your display, that means the call was placed from an area that doesn’t support Caller ID or was placed by an operator. If "Private," "priv," "P," or a similar indication appears, the caller may have blocked the display of his other number.
- Caller ID Deluxe require a display unit or a display-equipped telephone.
Caller ID Blocking
Subscribers to Caller ID Deluxe can see your phone number and name even if your number is unlisted or unpublished. You can, however, block the display of your number and name with Caller ID Blocking.
How to Use Caller ID Blocking
- Before you place your call, pick up the handset, and listen for the dial tone.

Press *67, and listen for the dial tone to return. (On a rotary phone, dial 1167, and wait four seconds for the dial tone to return.) Do not hang up.
When the dial tone returns, dial the telephone number you wish to call.- The person you’ve called will not be able to see your telephone number and/or name on their telephone display screen. Instead, "Private" (or "priv," "P," or a similar indication) will be displayed.
Caller ID Per-Call Blocking is already available on your phone line; just press *67.
Per-Line Blocking:
With Per-Line Blocking, blocking is automatic. You don’t have to dial any special codes. Your phone number and name will be automatically blocked. Instead, the person receiving the call will see the word "Private" on their Caller ID display.
Note:
- People who have Caller ID service may automatically reject blocked calls. Their phone will not ring, and you’ll hear an announcement that blocked calls will not be accepted. To complete the call, you have two options:
- Use Per-Call Unblocking to unblock your number and name for that call only. (See below.)
- Use operator assistance to place the call; your number and name will not be displayed on an operator-assisted call, but the charges for the call may be higher.
Per-Call Unblocking:
When you have Caller ID Per-Line Blocking, Per-Call Unblocking allows you to unblock your number and name for individual calls. To use this feature:
- Before you place your call, pick up the handset, and listen for the dial tone.

Press *82, and listen for the dial tone to return. (On a rotary phone, dial 1182, and wait four seconds for the dial tone to return.) Do not hang up.- When the dial tone returns, dial the telephone number you wish to call.
The person you’ve called will now be able to see your telephone number or name and number on their telephone display screen. - After you complete your conversation and hang up, Per-Line Blocking is automatically reactivated, and your number and name will be blocked on subsequent calls.

Remember: You must press *82 (or dial 1182 on a rotary phone) each time you want to unblock your phone number and/or name.
Caller ID Per-Call Unblocking is already available on your phone line if you have Caller ID Per-Line Blocking; just press *82.
