Leap to Better Data Backup
![]()
Ensuring business continuity - the ability to continue doing business following a disaster or any disruption - is important for companies of all sizes. A key aspect of business continuity is making sure you have access to your critical data. You may think you have a sufficient system in place, but if you answer "yes" to any of the following questions, it may be time to reconsider your options:
- Does your backup process currently take a lot of time and manual effort?
- Is your data backed up in just one place?
- Do you anticipate lengthy recovery times if you need to retrieve your backed up data?
- Are data backups using up your bandwidth and storage space?
- Does your backup solution align with regulatory compliance needs?
D&E’s Offsite Data Backup Solution
D&E has partnered with BitLeap, another local Central Pennsylvania company that understands the importance of business continuity, to offer an automated, secure and scalable data backup solution.
How does it work? D&E provides an appliance from BitLeap, called a LeapServ, which is stored either at your site or with equipment housed at D&E's offsite data center. The LeapServ is connected to your network and then automatically and securely connects to BitLeap's data storage network. It then saves, compresses and encrypts your data and transmits it to two additional offsite locations.. An easy-to-use Web-based portal enables you to manage all of your data backup processes, from setting bandwidth utilization limits and backup schedules, to archiving and managing retention policies.
The benefits of D&E's Offsite Data Backup include:
- Streamlined, automated processes
- No more manual backups or tapes
- No new software to install or maintain
- Secure, 256 AES encryption
- Data is replicated multiple times at multiple locations
- Local and offsite data restoration
- Complete control through a Web-based management tool
- Scalable to your business growth
- Supports regulatory compliance initiatives
Plans start at 20 gigabytes of data storage and can exceed multiple terabytes. D&E provides and fully manages the hardware appliance, which is available in a shelf or rack-mount model. We will work with you to assess your storage capacity needs and select the best package level for your business. In addition, we can assist in setting up the processes within the management tool and provide additional training to you and your staff.
Offsite data backup is just one element of a comprehensive business continuity plan. D&E also offers an Offsite Data Center for hardware system storage in a secure, climate-controlled environment, as well as Recovery Work Space to provide a temporary worksite in the event of a business disruption.
