With Talking Return Call, a recorded message tells you the phone number of the last person who called you – even if you were unable to answer the phone.
Then, if you want to return the call, your phone will dial that number automatically. Talking Return Call works no matter what your reason for missing the call – whether you were away from home, were busy on another line, or simply chose to ignore a Call Waiting tone.
Talking Return Call (*69) Instructions
How to use:
- Press *69 on a touchtone phone, or dial 1169 on a rotary phone, and you will hear the telephone number, date, and time of the last call.
- You can choose to press 1 to return the call or simply hang up if you do not want to return the call.
If the line is busy after you press 1:
- Hang up. Your phone will keep trying the line for up to 30 minutes.
- A special callback ring alerts you if the line becomes free.
- Lift the handset to automatically place the call.
To cancel your Return Call request:
- Press *89 on a touchtone phone, or dial 1189 on a rotary phone.
- Listen for the confirmation tone or announcement. Hang up.
Note: Talking Return Call will not call back numbers or phone lines where special features such as Call Forwarding or Call Block have been activated.
