Opening Network Ports

Many online and multiplayer games are available for PC and console systems.  Most require little to no advanced configuration, however some require ports to be opened on the DSL modem. 

The instructions below are for Speedtouch 546 and 516 modems.  If your modem is different please contact tech support.

  1. Double click on Internet explorer.
  2. Delete whatever is in the address bar and then type http://speedtouch.lan then hit Enter.
  3. Click on Toolbox.
  4. Click on Game & Application Sharing.

  5. Click on Assign a game or application to a local network device.

  6. Under Game or Application from the drop down list choose the application.

  7. Under Device choose the computer or device you want to assign the application to, and then click Add.

What if my application is not in the list?

  1. Click on Create a new game or application.
  2. Name the application, then below; choose Manual Entry of Port Maps and click Next.
  3. Under Protocol choose either UDP or TCP, if you do not know the specific protocol select both.
  4. Enter the range of ports, if not know this can be obtained from the game’s manufacturer.
  5. Click Add; repeat if more ports are needed.
  6. Under Game or Application choose the name you created and assign to the computer or device.
