Configuring Outlook Express 4.x, 5.x 6.x for SMTP Authentication

  1. Open Outlook Express.
  2. Click on Tools.
  3. Click on Accounts.
  4. Click on the Mail Tab.
  5. Double Click on the name of your account.
  6. This will bring up the mail account Properties box.
  7. Click on the Servers tab.
  8. Click on the box in front of "My server Requires Authentication." A checkmark will be placed in the box.
  9. Click on the Settings button.
  10. The Outgoing Mail Server window will appear.
  11. Chose the option to "use same settings as my incoming mail server."
  12. Click Ok.
  13. The Properties box will appear. Click Ok to save the changes.
  14. The Internet Accounts box will appear. Click Close.
