Configuring e-mail for Outlook Express

1. Launch Outlook Express
2. Click on Tools
3. Scroll down to Accounts, and left-click

   

4. Click on the tab that says Mail
5. **Optional** If you have additional e-mail accounts that you would like to remove from your system, you can do so at this time.
   • To remove an account: Click on the account that you want to remove one time to highlight it, and then click the Remove button.
   • At this point, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to delete this account. Click yes.
6. To add your D&E Jazzd account, click the Add button, select Mail and left-click it once.

   

7. At this point, the "Internet Connection Wizard" will appear. Now you will be prompted to add the "Internet e-mail address."
   • Type in your name (Example: Jon Doe)

     

   • Click Next
   • Select "I already have an e-mail address that I'd like to use"
   • Type in your e-mail address. Ex: jdoe@dejazzd.com

     

   • Click Next
8. At this point, you will add the "e-mail server names."
   • The first option on the screen should say "my incoming mail server is a POP3 server." If this server is displayed as IMAP, click on the drop-down arrow and select POP3.
   • Type in pop.dejazzd.com for incoming (POP) mail.
   • Type in smtp.dejazzd.com for outgoing (SMTP) mail.
   • Click Next
9. At this point, you will add the "Internet mail logon" information.
   • Your Account Name will most likely be displayed without the domain. Ex: jdoe (Note: Be Sure that you add the domain after the account name). Ex: jdoe.dejazzd.com (Note: new customers & converted users as of January 3, 2006, use @dejazzd.com; users in Lancaster, York, and Harrisburg areas, use .dejazzd.com, and all other area users use @dejazzd.com)
   • Go down to the next box and type in your password. (Note: Keep in mind that passwords are case-sensitive.)
   • If you want Outlook Express to remember your password, check the remember password box.
   • Make sure that the box that says "log on using secure password authentication" is not checked.

     

   • Click Next
   • Click Finish

     

10. (THIS SECTION IS ONLY FOR USERS WHO HAVE A VERSION OF OUTLOOK EXPRESS OLDER THAN 5)
    • If you have a version of Outlook older than 5, it will ask you to create a "friendly name" for the account.
    • At this point, you may type in a name to identify that particular account.
    • Click Next.
    • At this point, you will be prompted to choose a way to connect to your mail.
    • Choose the option "I will establish my Internet connection manually."
    • Click Next.
    • Now click Finish to finalize your D&E Jazzd account.

YOUR MAIL WILL BE SET UP NOW.
