SSL means secure sockets layer. The SSL protocol includes provisions for server authentication (verifying the server's identity to the client), encryption of data in transit, and optional client authentication (verifying the client's identity to the server).

8. What does encryption mean?

Encryption works by encoding the text of a message with a key - in essence the bits and bytes are scrambled and difficult to read. There are standard encryption types in the industry called DES encryption. For our e-commerce products and backup/restore products we will provide encryption so that when a customer puts in a credit card on-line it will be encrypted as it travels through the network and the Internet.

9. What is a Domain Name?

According To InterNIC:

Domain names are the familiar, easy to remember names for computers on the Internet (such as internic.net). They correspond to a series of numbers (called Internet Protocol numbers) that serve as routing addresses on the Internet. Domain names are used generally as a convenient way of locating information and reaching others on the Internet.

Personally:

Domains names make communication and/or business on the Internet happen easily. One domain name is not just a name for computers on the Internet. A domain name can be taken with you to any machine or any hosting company in the world, and they are available anywhere in the world. Domain names can be used for more than just email and web sites. They can be linked to any service that is available on the Internet (remote connections, Internet Relay Chat, databases etc.). Without domain names and domain name servers we would have to remember numbers instead of names, making communicating with one another more difficult.

10. Who owns the Domain Name I register?

As the registrant, you own the domain name for a duration of time that you have purchased through the registrar. At the end of that duration of time you can renew the domain for a duration of time that you and the registrar determine.

11. How much does it cost to own a Domain Name?

Prices vary from registrar to registrar. They range from a dollar to thirty-five dollars per year for a new domain name. Domain names already purchased by people that are for sale can cost anywhere from a dollar to several thousands of dollars and up.
Please consult a register for exact pricing. List of accredited registers, www.icann.org/registrars/accredited-list.html

12. How long does it take to register a Domain Name?

Depending on the registrars process ten minutes to a couple of hours including phone hold time.
