Important Web Space Information:
- Move your HTML pages using any FTP program, by connecting to "home.dejazzd.com."
- Your ftp/server user name will be in the format username.dejazzd.com.
- Your password will be the same as your network login password (the password used to provision the web space).
- The address to access your web space will be http://home.dejazzd.com/username.
- The first page to view your web space must be named "index.html"
Web Site Creation
Once you have your web space set up, you will have to create your site. This can be done with one of the programs listed here—MS Front Page, Netscape Communicator, or any other web page creation tool.
We have provided a few website template/tutorials for our Jazzd members to use and learn from. Click here to go to "My First Web Site" mini-site to look at the templates we have for you to use.
Uploading Files to your Personal Web Space
Now that you have the design of your web page complete, you will post or publish your website. You will do this with any FTP program (ws_ftp and cuteFTP are popular), File Transfer Protocol. You will FTP your files to home.dejazzd.com. Your FTP program will also ask you for your user name and password. Please make sure that you are using the same user name and password that you use to get on the Internet.
Most FTP programs work like Windows Explorer. Where one half of the program is the files that are on your hard drive, the other side of the FTP program is the files that are sitting on the web server. Move files from your hard drive to the web server side (making sure they are going into the same folder name) and you have uploaded your site to the web server.
