• PA Telecommunications Relay Service

The Pennsylvania Telecommunications Relay Service (TRS) allows people with speech and hearing disabilities to use typewriter-like machines to communicate with other individuals using regular telephones. These machines are called text-telephones (TTYs), and they are used to send messages over the telephone network. As the TTY user types his or her message, a communications assistant translates it by telephone. That person's response is then sent back to the TTY user by the communications assistant.

TRS is available 24 hours a day, every day of the year. TTY users can reach the TRS Center by simply dialing 711 or 1-800-654-5984. People who want to communicate with TTY users but do not have a TTY can do so by calling the TRS Center at 711 or 1-800-654-5984.
