Quick Tips
- Maintain a clear focus: as a team member or team leader, be sure everyone is clear on what is expected. What is the goal? Ask questions to determine how your work (or the teams work) adds value to the larger organization.
- Ensure commitment to the team / department goals. If you are not committed or enthusiastic about your team, schedule a meeting with your supervisor to resolve any questions or concerns you may have.
- Identify the potential in yourself and your teammates. Being able to leverage your collective strengths helps everyone feel more confident about the ability to achieve goals and win together.
- When the going gets tough, remind each other of past successes. This will build pride and helps the team focus on how they can apply those successes to current challenges.
- Value the diverse experiences of others within your team. Learn form those who have "been there before". Remind yourself and others to be creative and support the team with ideas for achieving success.
- Encourage collaboration and open communication: help all involved easily gain trust and support from each other.
